Kittitas Environmental Education Network's Mission:
To develop, maintain and coordinate a network of practitioners and supporters of environmental education and sustainability in Kittitas County.

KEEN was founded in 1999 by a group of individuals who thought that coordinating the many and varied outdoor learning opportunities in our region would be a good idea. We still think it is a good idea and though we will still coordinate our flagship events - Get Intimate with the Shrub-Steppe and the e3 Winter Fair: Greeening in the New Year - the new board has updated our materials, redrafted our bylaws, restructured our board and committees, and working on renewing our volunteer base. It's a great time to be involved with KEEN - we hope you'll consider joining us!
KEEN has made a commitment to ensuring that our educational programs are inclusive and that we remain scientific and unbiased in our presentation of issues relating to the conservation and restoration of native habitats in our county. This is the essence of environmental education - it encourages inquiry and investigation and enables individuals to weigh various sides of an issue, but does not advocate a particular viewpoint or course of action. In other words, EE teaches people how to think, not what to think.
