3rd Annual

e3 Winter Fair: Greeening in the New Year!

Saturday, January 29th
10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Hal Holmes Center, Ellensburg

e3 represents "Education, Environment and Economy".  It is a statewide process aimed at: "optimiz(ing) a system of education for sustainable communities for everyone who lives, learns, works, and plays in Washington State—to create thriving environments for schools, communities, and businesses."

In Kittitas County, businesses, agencies and non-profit organizations worked together to host an e3 summit in the spring of 2008.  More than 100 community members representing local businesses, farms, schools, CWU, governmental agencies, and non-profit organizations attended the summit.  Participants identified goals and strategies for increasing sustainability in our area.  Among the goals identified was "identify local businesses who are moving toward sustainable practices, offer them further incentives to positive change, and then let them serve as role models for other businesses."  A second goal was "a physical space where the public could go to find all the resources they need for environmental questions".

The E3 Winter Fair was conceived to work toward the achievement of these two goals.  Attendees at the fair are able to visit booths from up to 30 local organizations.  Each booth describes the ways in which the business, agency, or non-profit organization is supporting and enhancing our community’s economic, environmental and educational wellbeing.
